The council serves as an umbrella organization for more than 100
arts-related groups, provides grants for artists in the Midlands

Koger Center for the Arts
The Koger Center’s season generally starts in September. Season
tickets can be purchased in August. The center is at 1051 Greene St., and

Newberry Opera House
This historic opera house hosts 165 shows a year and several different
series — from Broadway, to big bands to beach music to country.
The season runs from September to June, but it’s a good idea to
buy tickets for a whole series in early August. The opera house
is at 1201 McKibben St. in Newberry. Newberry is less than an

Patchwork Playhouse
Providing live theater for all ages, the Patchwork Playhouse is
located in Lexington at 711 E. Main St. In addition to children’s
productions, the players also stage a “Mystery Dinner Theatre”

SC Philharmonic
It is the resident professional orchestra of central South Carolina.
