Midlands Community Health Center (MCHC) proudly announces the 4^th Annual Color Your Mind, Body, & Soul Family Fun Day & Health Fair. This health awareness campaign has been designed to engage the community in making healthier lifestyle choices. This Fun Day will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the C. R. Neal Dream Center, located at 2430 Atlas Road. This event will include activities for the entire family including free health screenings, free food, exhibitors, carnival rides, arts & crafts and games for kids of all ages.

MCHC is a subsidiary of Midlands Community Development Corporation, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the betterment of distressed communities.  To learn more about both entities, please visit our website at www.MidlandsCDC.org. Sponsored by Colonial Life, the 9th annual Light a Light, Share a Night campaign is held throughout the month of July to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Columbia, SC.  During this time, more than 1,500 white lights are lit and serve as a way to honor and remember families who have made our House their home during their child’s hospitalization, or found care and comfort at the Ronald McDonald Family Room® located inside Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital.  For only $$10 per light, supporters can cover the cost for one family to stay in our House for one night and help brighten the lives of families who are facing what is sometimes the most difficult time of their lives – the uncertainties of having a critically ill or injured child.

The Main Street Marketplace is an open-air market featuring fresh produce, baked goods, specialty gifts, art, photography, books, handmade & unique crafts, and much more every Friday beginning September 3 through October 29 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The market will be held on Boyd Plaza in front of the Columbia Museum of Art at the corner of Main and Hampton Streets in downtown Columbia. Admission is free. Complimentary shuttle service courtesy of City Center Partnership is available in the 36 block area downtown bounded by Gervais to Elmwood and Assembly to Marion Streets to pick up and drop off attendees.
