Thursday, 11 March, 2010 - Winter Fly Tying Classes

Come learn to tie basic flies for catching trout in the Saluda River right here in Columbia, SC. Classes cost $$35 per evening and include all the tools you need, and a packet of materials and CD with a photo-illustrated instructional presentation on it that will allow you to tie lots more of the fly you learn on your own, as well as personalized instruction in a friendly, relaxed small group setting.

New to the sport of fly fishing? I highly recommend learning to tie your own flies. Once you learn the basic tying techniques, you will be able to imitate just about anything the fish would want to eat, and the flies you tie will be much cheaper than the ones you would have to buy in the store otherwise. What's more, my tying classes often include discussions of fishing techniques that will help you have success on the water. I often share tips and information about fly tackle as well as sources for quality gear, materials, and tools at bargain prices. Come benefit from my 20+ years of experience in tying and fishing flies for everything from snook and bluefish to bream and trout.

Classes will be ongoing on Thursday evenings throughout the winter months. If you plan on attending, please contact me at gofish@franksflyarts.com to register for a class. Be sure to register at least a week in advance so I will have time to plan the fly we will tie that week based on your experience level and gather the materials we will need for class. I limit participation to 5 students per evening and do not admit anyone on a drop-in basis.

When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre.

Times: Friday & Saturday 8 pm; Sunday 3 pm
<a href='javascript:openWindow('http://www.villagesquaretheatre.com');'>http://www.villagesquaretheatre.com
Location: Village Square Theatre
Phone: (803)359-1436
Admission: Adults $$18; Senior(60+) $$16; Students (12 & under) and military $$12
